Policy to Protect Contestants, Staff and Audience
from COVID 19 and its Variants
Washington and Oregon Regency International Pageants
We are committed to providing a safe environment for our contestants, staff and audience. Therefore, and for this reason it is critical that the Washington/Oregon Regency International Pageants take any and all precautions to protect against Covid-19 and any variants.
Our first responsibility is the safety of our contestants, staff and audience. We are required by law to comply with federal and state COVID-19 and Variants mandates. We are required to post our COVID-19 and its Variants policy. We strongly believe that this is the best path forward as a pageant, prioritizing the safety of all contestants, staff and audience.
Our statement of general policy complies with all Washington state and local rules and regulations as the pageant is conducted in the State of Washington. Our policy is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as that of local health authorities. To ensure we have a safe and healthy pageant experience, we have developed the following COVID-19 and its Variants policy:
- Requiring masks (on the face) – Vaccinated or not, people five years and older, are required to wear a face covering in all indoor public places. We strongly recommend that children between 2 and 4 years old also wear masks. We must require the person to wear a mask and prohibit entry if they decline. For more information, visit the Washington State Department of Health website.
- Distancing between staff members
- Distancing between contestants and staff members
- Distancing between contestants and audience
- Providing arrangements for hand hygiene (see restrooms)
- Promoting respiratory etiquette
- Accommodation – Requiring an accommodation for medical exemption and/or religious exemption must be made to the Director. It does not automatically excuse anyone from the requirements of this Policy. Rather, consistent with state law, the Director will consider accommodation requests on a case-by-case basis and will further dialogue with the individual in the request for accommodation as permitted under law.
- Recommending and encourage all contestants, staff and audience to become vaccinated against COVID-19 and its Variants, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Proof of Vaccination: Starting November 15, 2021, people must provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test in order to attend large events within the state. This applies to indoor events with 1,000 or more attendees and outdoor events that have more than 10,000 attendees. (See “Washington Gov. Jay Inslee Speaks During A News Conference.” “The Oregonian” (Friday, March 12, 2021). The Washington and Oregon Regency International Pageants is considered a small event with under 1,000 attendees and, therefore, proof of vaccination is not required. However, businesses, restaurants, venues and the like may require proof of vaccination in order to enter the establishment.
Note: Information relating to an individual’s COVID-19 (and variants) status will remain confidential.
Thank you for your understanding and compliance.
