Credentials

With over 20 years’ experience in pageant training, Dr. Ballou brings a wealth of knowledge to his training program. He has coached international, national, state, and local contestants in a variety of pageant systems such Miss USA, Miss America, Mrs. America, Miss India, Miss Pakistan, Miss Afghanistan, and many state and local pageants.

Dr. Ballou’s contestants nearly always bring home awards such as the Title, Runners-Up, Congeniality, Photogenic, Talent, Outstanding Interview and so forth. In fact, Dr. Ballou has a high success rate of 97.3% that his contestants come away with some kind of award.

Dr. Ballou brings his wealth of experience to his work. As an experienced public school teacher, Dr. Ballou’s choirs and bands have been recognized on the international, national, regional, state and local levels. Many of his students currently hold prominent positions such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Seattle Light Opera as well as with various recording and music publishing companies. Others have received scholarships to study opera with the opera company in Vienna, Austria.

Dr. Ballou has an extensive academic record. He holds a PhD in Educational Leadership (Antioch University, 2008), a Master of Music Education degree (University of Southern Mississippi, 1985), a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree (Milligan College, 1978), as well as Principal Credentials through the Danforth Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program (University of Washington, 1998).

Dr. Ballou applies his teaching expertise to pageant coaching. With a positive, fun and encouraging approach, he applies a common sense approach to developing contestants and always explains the purpose no matter what concept he is teaching.
